Do bývalé zahrady kláštera na Slovanech, zvaného Emauzy navrhl Karel Prager rozsáhlý areál Projektového ústavu, který předpokládal demolici bytového domu na rohu Karlova náměstí. K demolici činžovního domu nakonec nedošlo a byly realizovány pouze tři z pěti kostek. Speciální konstrukce (vyložení kovových nosníků na šest metrů) vytváří dojem, že stavby levitují nad zelenou plochou a přispívají k meditačnímu charakteru prostředí. Návrh byl široce diskutován veřejností, vedly se dlouhé debaty o tom, zda vedle gotického chrámu může být postaven ultramoderní komplex. Prager na výsledky diskuze nečekal a s velkým rizikem nechal na vlastní náklady vyrobit ocelovou konstrukci. Po dokončení stavby se do objektů nastěhoval mimojiné i Pragerův atelier GAMA. Dnes zde sídlí Institut plánování rozvoje Prahy.

In the former Na Slovanech convent garden, also called Emmaus, Karel Prager designed an extensive complex for Prague’s Projecting and Design Institute, which, among other things, also required the demolition of the historic apartment building on the corner of Charles Square. Eventually, the building was kept and Prager built only three out of the five planned cubes. The special structural design (with its 6 meter long steel cantilevers) gives the impression, that the buildings are levitating above ground. The design proposal was widely debated by the public, with long discussions about whether or not an ultramodern complex like this could be built right next to a Gothic church. But Prager didn’t wait for any conclusions. He took the initiative and, at great risks, had the factory produce the whole steel construction at his own cost and responsibility. After the complex’s completion, Prager’s GAMA studio was among others to move into the new spaces.
